Version Control

Version Control is the ability for you to restore an article to a previous version of that specific article.

Each time an article is edited and checked in, a record of this version is saved as a historical record of the article. An article may be restored to a previous version by selecting it from the Publishing | Folders page and clicking on the History button in the menu across the top of the page.

The View Article History page is then displayed and lists the last 10 versions of the article that have been saved and can optionally list all versions of the article. The page shows the user who has last edited the article and provides an indication as to if the articles’ attributes or content were modified.

To view the article as it was at a previous version, select the radio button to the left of the record and click on Preview from the shortcut menu at the top of the page. This will pop up a window showing that version of the article.

To restore a previous version to be the current version, again, select the radio button next to the version you wish to restore and then click on the Restore button from the shortcut menu.

To restore a previous version with modifications, select the article version and click on Edit & Restore. This will first open the article for editing and then when the modifications have been completed and the article is saved and checked in, this will become the current live version of the article.
